The Andean Region located in the northern part of the South America continent consists of five countries: Colombia, Venezuela, Peru, Ecuador and Bolivia. With a population of 125 million, a pet population of 16.3 million, and low caloric penetration, this is one the top emerging market opportunities for Mars for both pet care and chocolate segments.

MARS Andean became an independent business unit in 2006, reporting to the Latin American Regional President, with the construction of a Dry Pet Food plant in Barranquilla, Colombia, which location provides easy access to all Andean Markets by land or sea. The business is focused on two Product Categories: Pet Food and Chocolate. MARS Andean employs more than 104 associates within the region.
